Dear Friend,

I am writing to you as a friend of Access to Independence to ask for your financial support as we embark on fulfilling our 2010 goals.

Since our incorporation in 1998, Access to Independence has become the area's foremost disability resource. As a nonprofit, consumer-driven organization, we empower people with disabilities to lead independent lives. We strive to open the doors to full participation and access for all so that discrimination and physical barriers no longer exist.

During the next 12 months, Access to Independence will undertake strategic initiatives that aim to enhance the quality of life for all people with disabilities. These initiatives relate to priorities set by our Board of Directors based on a recent needs assessment of the Cortland region. They include:

• Increase community awareness of disability issues and services, and work towards systems changes that lead to increased access, opportunity and participation for people with disabilities;

• Continue to advocate for and oversee home and business modifications that lead to a more accessible Cortland community; and

• Expand educational and transition programming to serve more of our young residents with disabilities.

Whether you are an old friend or a new acquaintance, please know that your donation is an investment in our mission. Your support will help us offer additional programming and services to people so they can achieve their independence. As added incentive, for those who donate $100 or more, your name will be entered into a drawing for one of several prizes that have been donated, including a $500 gift certificate from Metro Mattress, a week in the Catskills, and a getaway at the new Hope Lodge Resort!
