- AMERICAN DISABLED
for ATTENDANT PROGRAMS TODAY (ADAPT) Nationally ADAPT focuses on
promoting services in the community instead of warehousing people with
disabilities in institutions and nursing homes. Attendant services (help
with things like eating, dressing, toileting, moving from wheelchair to
bed, etc.) are the cornerstone to community based services for people
with severe disabilities. ADAPT is working to get 25% of the Medicaid
long term care funds redirected to pay for a national, mandated
attendant services program.

- Information Access Laboratory
The Information Access Laboratory is dedicated to encouraging
students with disabilities in the sciences by eliminating barriers that
hinder their educational pursuits. Students with disabilities are
especially underrepresented in the science, engineering, and math
disciplines. Two primary reasons for this poor representation are:
attitudinal barriers and inefficient accessibility to appropriate
curriculum. Information Access addresses these issues through the

Center on Accessibility (NCA) Located at Indiana University's
Bradford Woods, NCA provides technical assistance to organizations of
all sizes who are designing and retrofitting their leisure areas and
programs for accessibility. The NCA conducts, promotes, and facilitates
research on issues essential to accessibility. This research shapes
instruction for the nationally renowned NCA education programs conducted
at the Center and throughout the United States. The NCA Staff assists
organizations in all phases of development, encouraging understanding
and involvement, and providing the expertise to assist those designing
environments and programs to make them accessible. NCA serves
organizations working to make the arts, beaches, sports, national

Society For more than 55 years, the National MS Society has been one
thing people with MS can count on: on a personal level and in the public
arena. In 1946 -- before advocacy was a household word -- the National
MS Society began advocating for people with multiple sclerosis. Our
first victory came four years later: in 1950 Congress established the
National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Work at NINDS
impacts millions of Americans and it receives over $650 million in
federal funds annually. Nearly $60 million of that money goes directly
to MS research.

Our-Kids is a "Family" of parents, caregivers and others who are working
with children with physical and/or mental disabilities and delays. We
call the list "Our-Kids". While it isn't exactingly descriptive, it
avoids the pitfalls of labeling our kids anything but what they most
certainly are: The wonderful little people in our lives. The Our-Kids
list consist of over 800 people representing children of varying
diagnosis; everything from indefinite developmental delays and sensory
integration problems, to cerebral palsy, to rare genetic disorders. Over

Hansen in partnership with the University of British Columbia. Our
mission is to find a cure for paralysis and to improve lifestyle for
persons with disabilities. The site also tells of Rick's historic
journey around the world in a wheelchair including an interactive map.
MOST IMPORTANT: we give out millions of dollars in research and
rehabilitation grants.

Looking Glass Through the Looking Glass is a community non-profit
organization which emerged from the disability independent living
movement in 1982. TLG has pioneered clinical and supportive services,
